When purchasing from our SHOP.CA Direct Home line, special delivery service is required, and extra shipping charges will apply. These charges will appear during the check out process, after entering your shipping address, as they are specific to your area. When returning SHOP.CA Direct Home items, the same charge will apply for shipping the product back to SHOP.CA.
Below, you will find some helpful instructions and recommendations for you as you prepare to receive your exciting new purchase from SHOP.CA Direct Home.
Delivery Service Preparation – Please assist us in making your delivery successful.
- Access to the home, including driveway and walkway, should be clear of obstacles and snow, with your pets secured for their safety
- Ensure that a person you trust is present to accept the delivery
- Please take measurements in advance of your order to ensure the items you purchase will fit. In the rare situation where your purchase may be a tight fit, you have the option of approving our attempt for delivery by releasing us from liability for damage to property by signing a release,or by returning the item to SHOP.CA to make an alternative selection
- Ensure the area where you want furniture to be placed is clear
- Ensure that the water/power/vent hoses connections for refrigerators, stoves, washers, and dryers are disconnected prior to the Delivery Team’s arrival
- It is recommended that you purchase new hoses for washers and a metal dryer vent hose is recommended by manufacturers, as in many cases these are not provided with the new units
- We recommend that if you are placing upholstery on tile or hardwood flooring, felt protection should be used
What You Need to Know - In Metro Areas
- Delivery Team or automated service will contact you 2-3 days prior to delivery to confirm date and address. Orders that cannot be verbally confirmed will be rescheduled
- The day prior, or on the day of delivery, a driver or an automated service will call and provide you with a 2-3 hour delivery window as to when they will arrive
- The Delivery Team will attempt to contact you in advance if the delivery window cannot be met due to unforeseen circumstances
- Due to health and safety regulations, Delivery Teams are required to wear safety footwear at all times. They will take precautions to protect your home and flooring at all times
What will the Delivery Team do for You - In Metro Areas
Refrigerator/Range/Freezer
- Appliances will be removed from packaging and put in place, leveled and plugged in
- Water or gas hook-ups will be your responsibility
- The Delivery Team will take all packaging with them
Please note: Refrigerators and freezers should only be turned on 1 hour after delivery
Washers and Dryers
- Appliances will be removed from packaging, put in place, leveled and plugged in
- Stacking bolts and locks will be removed. Stacking laundry and pedestals will be set up
- Only new hoses for washers and metal dryer hoses (as recommended by manufacturer) will be connected. Plastic dryer hoses will not be connected. Connection of gas dryers will be your responsibility
- The Delivery Team will take all packaging with them
Built-in Stoves and Dishwashers
- At your request, appliances will be removed from packaging and left on cardboard to avoid floor damage
- Connection of gas ranges and dishwashers will be your responsibility
Existing Appliances
- The Delivery Team will not be responsible for relocating existing appliances in the home
Electronics
- TV’s over 37” will be removed from packaging if you request, and the TV base mounted
- We recommend that if you are planning to wall mount your TV, you keep it in the packaging until you are ready for installation
- All electronics will be placed in your room of choice. You should be careful with small appliance packaging as some items have remotes and manuls inserted in styrofoam
Mattresses and Box Springs
- If a bed frame has been purchased, it will be assembled
- Mattress and box spring will be unwrapped and placed in frame
- The Delivery Team will take packaging with them
Upholstery
- Legs will be installed if required (if placing on tile or hardwood floors, you should be prepared to install felt protection)
- Furniture will be placed in your room of choice
- Sofa beds and recliners will be unlocked
- For recliners, backs will be installed together with handles
- The Delivery Team will take all packaging with them
Bedroom Sets, Wall Units, Dining Rooms:
- Furniture placed in your room of choice (if placing on tile or hardwood floors, you should be prepared to install felt protection)
- For bedroom sets, mirror will be attached to dresser and headboard and footboard will be attached to bed frame. You will be responsible for installing handles
- For dining rooms, table base or legs will be installed and hutches will be placed on top of buffet
- The Delivery Team will take all packaging with them
Ready to Assemble (RTA):
- Items will be placed in your room of choice and will be left in packaging by the Delivery Team. All assembly instructions are in the boxes
What You Need to Know - Rural:
- For deliveries in Rural Areas, we will deliver and place items in room of choice. Unpacking will be the customer’s responsibility
