To satisfy the most discerning orchestral percussionist, we settled on a pretensioned head. In fact, this head has a higher degree of pretension than any other synthetic head currently available. A chrome-plated steel insert ring delivers the desired effect when pedaled and affords additional support once the head is tensioned via the counterhoop. It will perform magnificently at ppp with soft mallets, yet will not break up or sound harsh at fff. It sustains when asked and mutes softly and quietly with the palm and fingers. Through all this, it retains definite pitch.
